Addressing New Zealand’s Biodiversity Challenge
This document was contributed to by our Chief Executive, alongside other leaders with responsibilities towards biodiversity protection. It describes difficulties in addressing biodiversity loss and identifies five shifts that would assist regional councils to halt biodiversity decline;
Shift 1 – Stronger leadership and clearer lines of accountability
Shift 2 – Building on what regional councils do best
Shift 3 – Better decision-making through better information
Shift 4 – Planning and delivering joined up action
Shift 5 – Modern, fit for purpose frameworks
