We’re responsible for planning and funding land transport initiatives within the Waikato region, including public transport, road infrastructure, and managing regional land transport plans in collaboration with the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
Our affordable public transport services give access to jobs, education, healthcare, supermarkets, recreational and social activities, and community events. They also give an alternative to private vehicle travel, provide for the transport disadvantaged and rural communities, and support urban growth objectives.
Improving water quality, enhancing the health of our coastal and marine ecosystems, protecting and restoring our unique native plants and animals and the ecosystems they live in, keeping people safe on our roads and waterways as well as from floods and other hazards, and providing passenger transport services.
