What is Tuia Mentoring programme?

The Tuia kaupapa is long-term, intergenerational approach to develop and enhance the way rangatahi contribute to communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.  You can find out more by reading the prospectus below, and watching the videos.

Does this sound like you?

We're looking for rangatahi Māori (18-25 yrs) who reside within the Waikato rohe and is someone who enjoys engaging with their community and contributing to the wellbeing or inspires to do so.

What to expect:

  1. Attend five weekend wānanga held on marae around the country - three three-day and two four-day wānanga held on marae around the country over a period of 12 months. 
  2. Monthly ‘one on one’ mentoring meetings with your Waikato Regional Council, and other opportunities.
  3. Being open minded and willing to contribute to discussions and workshops.

How can you apply?

We want you to create a two-minute video where you tell us:

  • Your name and a brief self-introduction, and
  • the reasons why you should be selected for the Tuia kaupapa.

It’s easy to send us your video.

  • Access Facebook Messenger and start a new conversation with Waikato Regional Council.
  • Send us your video, along with your contact details and the contact details of the community which is supporting your application.
  • Please keep your video shorter than two minutes. Any videos longer than this will not be accepted.
