North Waikato public transport review

Waikato Regional Council, in conjunction with Waikato District Council, is embarking on a review of public transport services in North Waikato to ensure that the current and future needs of the local community are met.

The review of the Waikato Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP) in 2014/15 identified a need to investigate public transport provision in the northern part of the region, and in particular, Tuakau and Pokeno, where significant growth is occurring.

This growth is leading to increased demand for transport infrastructure and services, particularly for access to employment and community services within the North Waikato area and in the southern part of Auckland (Pukekohe, Papakura and Manukau). The review will also consider transport needs for the Te Kauwhata, Mercer, Meremere, Rangiriri and Port Waikato communities.

Household travel survey

The first step in the review process is undertaking a household travel survey.

We encourage anyone who lives, or travels in the North Waikato area (Meremere, Te Kauwhata, Pokeno, Tuakau, Port Waikato and everywhere in between) to complete the survey.

Please fill in the survey online link)

The survey is available for a three week period, Monday 20 June to Sunday 10 July.

You can have a survey form mailed to you if you prefer – please call Waikato District Council on 0800 492 452.
Hard copies of the survey are also available at the Waikato District Council offices and local libraries.
