Acoustic recorders for detection of cryptic avifauna: A trial of two coastal wetlands in the Waikato region
Report: TR 2016/06
Author: P Stewart (Red Admiral Ecology)
Red Admiral Ecology was contracted by Waikato Regional Council to develop a protocol for surveying the distribution of wetland avifauna species in the region.
This report describes Proof of Concept work, was carried out by assessing species at two wetlands:
- Toreparu Wetland - An intact coastal wetland in the western Waikato.
- Waikawau Wetland - A fragmented mosaic of wetland habitats on the Coromandel Peninsula, with a history of predator control and community observer monitoring.
