- Find out more about coastal water quality for swimming.
We produce a ‘pass rate’ for water quality for contact recreation such as swimming, by measuring levels of the faecal bacteria called enterococci.
The pass rate is determined by comparing results with our guidelines for contact recreation, which are based on national guidelines.
