Regional council chair presents emerging business award

Waikato Regional Council’s support for the local economy was underlined tonight with chairperson Paula Southgate handing out the emerging business award at the 2015 Westpac Waikato Business Excellence Awards in Hamilton.

The emerging business award was won by the recently founded Hamilton-based marketing consultancy HGB.

“We see ourselves as being a partner in facilitating economic growth,” said Ms Southgate.

“For example, through our newly established regional development fund we expect $18.9 million to be available over 10 years to inject into regional-scale projects with intergenerational benefits.

“Also, at a region-wide level, the council will provide management support and funding to help a business-led steering group drive implementation of the new Waikato Means Business economic strategy.

“And, at a business community level, it was a real pleasure to be involved as a sponsor in tonight’s awards.”
