If you measured the rainfall over the last few weeks, Environment Waikato wants to know the details.

The Council is hoping residents around the Waikato can provide rainfall information from their own areas to help contribute to data about the sort of rain the Region has had.

The Regional Council would particularly like to hear from residents of Hikuai, Tairua, Whitianga, Coroglen, Opoutere and Whangamata as well as anywhere else that had exceptional rainfall, particularly over the period May 15-22.

Environment Waikato natural hazard officer Adam Munro said the information would help Environment Waikato assess the areas and extent of flooding.

"This sort of information will help us compare data with previous flood events and work with the community and local councils to minimise the impacts of any future storms. If we know the areas of greatest risk, we can plan accordingly," Mr Munro said.

If you have rainfall information, email Adam Munro at or call Environment Waikato's Freephone 0800 800 401.
