Environment Waikato is to provide $1500 towards improving a reserve in Acacia Bay near Taupo.

Resident Vivienne Johnson applied for $3000 to assist with a one hectare reserve on her property, which was once farm land. The reserve has been covenanted and is used as a spiritual retreat by locals and visitors. It has been planted with exotic and native trees since 1993, and is now a charitable trust called Zuvuyaland.

The owner is moving from the property and the trust will continue to maintain the reserve. Funding was sought for construction of a shelter, seating and display cabinet and native plants. The grant is to be used towards native trees for the reserve.
