Farmer meeting offers environmental advice

A meeting being organised by Environment Waikato in association with Federated Farmers is offering dry stock farmers the chance to get up to speed with some key issues associated with dry-stock farming.

The latest Dry Stock Liaison Group meeting is being held on Friday 25 March at the Waitomo Golf & Country Club at 68 Golf Rd, Otorohanga.

The event kicks off at 9.40am  with a brief update on carbon farming strategy from river and catchment services committee chairman Cr Stu Kneebone.

Other presentations will include:

  • EW’s Peter Singleton on environmental issues affecting dry stock farming
  • AgResearch’s Richard McDowell on phosphorous
  • AgResearch’s Gavin Sheath on drystock farming challenges
  • Farmer William Oliver on dry stock farming options in a changing environment

EW’s sustainable agriculture coordinator Bala Tikkisetty will facilitate a discussion on the issues after the presentation.

Dry Stock Liaison Group meetings are held every six months and focus on balancing environmental sustainability and profitable land management.

Further details and RSVP, please contact Bob Franks or Bala Tikkisetty on 0800 800 401
