Waikato Regional Council has written to neighbours near its 401 Grey St, Hamilton, headquarters advising them about the remediation programme at the buildings.
The front portion (A block) of the headquarters is a ‘leaky’ building and remediation work is scheduled to commence on 29 April 2013 and is due to be completed by late 2013, the council’s letter said.
Necessary hoardings and fencing will be installed to secure the work site, scaffolding will be erected and the structure will be effectively shrouded with protective material during the work, corporate services group manager Junine Stewart advised.
A bus stop will be temporarily relocated from next to 401 Grey Street to another appropriate nearby location.
Remediation work will generally be carried out between 7.30 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm on Saturdays if required.
Some specific tasks may be undertaken outside these hours, such as removal of the Grey St canopy and use of a crane to remove plant from the roof. Such tasks may be carried out at night to minimise disruption to nearby businesses, road traffic and pedestrians.
“Waikato Regional Council will be working closely with the contractors to ensure that any inconvenience to nearby businesses, the Hamilton East community and visitors is minimised,” said Ms Stewart.
