Waikato Regional Council is keen to hear from people interested in managing land and water quality issues in the Lake Taupo and Upper Waikato River catchments.

The council is seeking nominations from the public for community representatives for the Lake Taupo and Upper Waikato catchment liaison subcommittees.

The subcommittees – which act in an advisory capacity - are the council’s way of getting detailed community input into the way river and catchment management programmes are run.

As a result of recent resignations, one new community representative is being sought for each of:

  • The Lake Taupo subcommittee
  • The Upper Waikato subcommittee

The current term of the subcommittees is due to end on 30 June 2014.

Nominees should have a knowledge of or interest in river and catchment programmes and an awareness of the increasing importance of improving land and water management in the region. They should also have a willingness to attend daytime meetings up to four times per year and an ability to engage with the public and local communities on catchment management matters. Meeting and travel expenses will be paid.

For further information and nomination forms visit www.waikatoregion.govt.nz/Council/About-us/Our-council/Catchment-liaison-subcommittees or phone Adele Bird on (07) 859 0910.

Nominations close at 4pm on Friday 6 July 2012.
